One of Türkiye’s leading cement producers, OYAK Çimento, has surpassed a significant milestone in occupational health and safety (OHS) at its Ünye Plant. The facility achieved 1,000 days without a lost-time injury (LTI), setting a benchmark performance for the sector.
The strategic achievement was celebrated at a ceremony held at the Ünye Plant with the participation of employees and suppliers. During the event, awards were presented to the OHS Employees of the Month and to suppliers who completed the year without any accidents. In addition, a special bust bearing the names of every employee working at the plant was unveiled, symbolizing the company’s “people-first” philosophy.
“Our Greatest Responsibility Is to Send Everyone Home Safely”
Speaking at the ceremony, Ünye Plant Director Özhan İnceoğlu stated: “We operate with the belief that all workplace accidents are preventable. Every colleague who walks through these factory gates is entrusted to us by their family. This 1,000-day achievement is the result of a team that stops work when risks are identified, looks out for one another, and prioritizes people above all.”
Global Standards, Strong Local Implementation
OYAK Çimento’s Performance and Process Director Murat Burakçın emphasized in his remarks: “By transferring the global expertise of TCC Group Holdings to our local operations, we are embedding international safety standards into our daily practices. The achievement in Ünye represents a stepping stone toward even higher targets.”
“Success Is the Natural Outcome of Corporate Culture”
OYAK Çimento Country Finance Director Ali Onur Aygün stated: “1,000 days without a lost-time injury requires strong discipline, a deeply embedded safety culture, and operational excellence. This is a highly significant achievement—please take a moment to applaud yourselves for creating this outstanding record. Sustainable growth and operational efficiency are only possible through your health and safety. I sincerely thank you all.”
Strong OHS Culture and Sustainable Performance
OYAK Çimento Country Human Resources Director Eda Güzeldemir Demiray said: “For us, 1,000 days is not merely a number; it is a tangible reflection of our people-centered approach and our strong safety culture. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all our colleagues who embrace safety and made this achievement possible, and I firmly believe that together we will celebrate many more 1,000-day milestones.”
