Hosted by Istanbul Technical University (ITU), the 10th Istanbul Carbon Summit was organized by the Sustainable Production and Consumption Association (SÜT-D) under the theme “Sustainable Solutions on the Road to Decarbonization and the Power of Green Finance.” Held on April 14–15, the summit recognized outstanding achievements in carbon management with awards presented by SÜT-D.
Prof. Dr. Filiz Karaosmanoğlu, ITU Faculty Member and President of SÜT-D, emphasized that the event was conducted in line with ISO 20121 sustainable event standards and achieved carbon neutrality. ITU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, in his presentation titled “A Sustainability-Oriented Future State Assessment: Challenges, Potentials, and the Future,” shared the university’s goal of becoming “Carbon Neutral ITU by 2048.”
Prof. Karaosmanoğlu also stated, “As part of our goal to instill a sustainable lifestyle and contribute to climate-literate generations, we select one school each academic year and carry out training and activities with students, teachers, and parents. The ‘Climate Detectives Team’ from Bilfen, with their motto ‘Change Tomorrow with Small Steps, Protect the Climate, Love the Earth,’ brought us joy and hope with their performance, earning them the 2025 SÜT-D Little Carbon Hero Award.”
During the summit, individuals and organizations that demonstrated exemplary carbon management practices in production, consumption, and services were honoured with the “SÜT-D 2025 Low Carbon Hero” awards. The awards were presented by ITU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. İpek Akın Karadayı.
Awardees included: AFS Boru, Aksa Natural Gas, Aydem Energy, Escon Energy, Halkbank, İnci GS Yuasa, İZAYDAŞ, Petrol Ofisi, Polisan, Shell & Turcas Petrol, ST Climate, Tayraş, TKYB, TSKB, Veldo Machinery, and Zorlu Energy.
