ABB Turkey Process Industries unit held a one day seminar regarding the solutions offered to the mining industry on November 30th, 2017 at Wyndham Ankara Hotel. In addition to turnkey and tailored solutions offered by ABB to the mining industry, mentioning ABB Ability™ platform and digital solutions, in the meeting the participants were able to see and experience the software and digital solutions also through the live demo system.
Held with the participation of nearly 100 people, in the seminar, the participants gave close attention to the solutions offered by ABB. Mining, Aluminum, Cement and Underground Mining Global Group officials of ABB also took part in the seminar.
ABB Turkey Process Industries Local Business Unit Manager Mehmet Yetkin and ABB Mining, Aluminum, Cement Group Vice President Max Luedtke made the opening speech of the seminar. The officials mentioned about the developments in mining industry and the industrial revolution; Industry 4.0 and special applications of ABB addressing the industry in the fields of digitalization in line with those developments.
Within scope of turnkey solutions and digitalization as the main subject of the seminar, organization of ABB in mining, ABB AbilityTM platform and MineOptimize solutions developed specifically for the mining industry and digital applications which create value with MineOptimize were emphasized. Digital applications which improve energy and production efficiency, minimize operational failures, facilitate diagnosis and right decision making, minimize maintenance costs such as Process Control, Power Control, Advanced Process Control/Expert Optimizer, Condition Monitoring&Asset Management, Integrated Mine Operations, Planning/ Scheduling, Shipping and Fleet Management, Information Management/Knowledge Manager and Collaborative Operations were mentioned.
Structure of the Process Industries Unit and turnkey solutions it offers were presented by Process Industries Local Business Unit Manager Mehmet Yetkin and Sales Account Manager responsible for mining sector İlten Karadağ together with the products, services and systems solutions integrated with engineering and project management.
Believing in the importance of Occupational Health and Safety in every project it carries out, Process Industries department made a dedicated presentation in the seminar regarding the applications made by ABB also about OHS issues which is becoming more important particularly for the mining sector today.
Mine hoist solutions and digital applications within scope of underground mining offered by ABB were also mentioned in the seminar. Mobile Fleet Management which features sub-applications such as dispatch and work order management, on-board machine reporting, remote monitoring, equipment performance reporting; Execution Manager which features sub-applications such as scheduler, production execution, material tracking, production performance reporting; Mine Remote Control Station; Mine Ventilation Control applications were among the subjects explained in the presentation.
Grinding (RMD, GMD, HPGR) and material handling solutions which are among other solutions offered by ABB to the mining sector were also included among the subjects addressed in the seminar session.
Emphasizing the importance of digitalization, feedbacks of the participants with regard to each presentation in the seminar and general evaluation of the seminar by the participants were received also through digital media. Process Industries team of ABB is planning to held similar programs by considering the positive feedbacks provided by the participants in 2018.
