A joint venture of Sabancı Holding and Heidelberg Materials, Akçansa is implementing a significant investment to enhance its operational capabilities at Çanakkale Port. Within the scope of its collaboration with Bruks Siwertell, one of the world’s leading companies in port loading systems, the company is replacing one of its existing 10,000-ton/day capacity loaders with a new one that has a cement and clinker loading capacity of 15,000 tons/day.
This strategic upgrade aims to accelerate loading processes, increase operational efficiency at the port, and enable faster responses to customer demands. The increase in capacity will reinforce Akçansa’s logistical strength at Çanakkale Port, contributing to its positioning as a more prominent player in international markets.
In addition to bulk cement and clinker, the Çanakkale Port also handles Big Bag-Sling Bag and dry ash loading operations, raw material unloading, and third-party loading services.
Commenting on the matter, Akçansa General Manager Vecih Yılmaz shared the following remarks:
“Effectively managing our strategic assets is of great importance to us. The renewal project we are launching at our Çanakkale Port, which stands out with its high-quality service capabilities, will be a significant step in enhancing our operational speed and capacity. While we aim to provide faster service to our customers, our logistics processes will also become more efficient. With the dynamic loading advantage we will achieve, we also hope to strengthen our market share in Europe. I believe this important collaboration with Bruks Siwertell, one of the global giants in port loading systems, will be beneficial for all parties involved.”
