Akçansa, a joint venture of Sabancı Holding and Heidelberg Materials, published its first Integrated Annual Report. The report published under the theme ‘Reflections’, with Akçansa’s sustainability vision, it reveals its environmental, social development, future strategies and financial and non-financial performance in a wide range.
In its first integrated annual report, which is a multidimensional assessment of its financial and non-financial performance in 2022, the company discusses its activities and future strategies from a holistic perspective. The company also supports the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) and the United Nations Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) with the works shared within the scope of the report. The company shares the value it has created within the scope of its six capital elements and its contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals in detail under the headings ‘Occupational Health and Safety’, ‘Environmental Footprint Reduction’, ‘Innovation and Digitization’, ‘Circular Economy’, ‘Being a Good Neighbor’ and ‘People, Harmony and Transparency’.
The report includes the performance results of the priority topics determined with the participation of all stakeholder groups. Akçansa, which has brought its priority issues to a more consolidated structure and gathered them under 18 headings, benefited from the document prepared by the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG) for companies to create a double materiality matrix in this process. In the study carried out with seven different stakeholder groups, the company determined the magnitude of its effects on the environment and society within the scope of its operations, and examined the impact of priority issues on business processes with the focus group studies it carried out with the senior management staff.
Making evaluations on the subject, Akçansa General Manager Vecih Yılmaz said; “With our integrated annual report, which we published for the first time this year, we share with the public our performance in environmental, social and corporate governance, as well as our financial results, on the scale of the value we create. We aim to disseminate the steps we have taken in the fight against the global climate crisis, the effects of which we feel more and more every day, and our exemplary practices that support sustainable development. We keep sustainability at the center of our business strategy, and build our future plans in this direction. We deal with a multidimensional issue such as sustainability with an inclusive approach and strive to work with the principle of making a sustainable contribution to a wide range of human and social life. Our first integrated annual report stands out as a reflection of our work in 2022, our future route and the value we create together with our stakeholders.”
