Akcansa held in Turkey the third of Biodiversity Project Competition which aims at enabling the students and academics to generate projects to increase the biological value of mine fields and increasing awareness in this.
Finalist projects were announced at the award ceremony. 5 projects among all the participating projects from Turkey were awarded in two different categories.
Being among the finalists Cakabey College students and consultants represented Turkey HeidelbergCement Quarry Life Awards held in Germany with projects and became the winner of the first prize in the contest. The project aims to restore the diversity of plants in rocky and arid areas by applying a vertical gardening technique, which enables the conversion of stone walls or dry surfaces into green living spaces.
The winners of the Scientific Research Category of the Biodiversity Project Competition, which gathered innovative and creative ideas, were Canakkale Onsekiz Mart University and Izmir Cakabey College. Students received their awards from Umut Zenar, General Manager of Akcansa, and Ediz Hun, a jury member of the competition.
The second prize was given to Canakkale Doga College and Canakkale Onsekiz Mart University in Social Utility category. Honorable mention of the competition was Canakkale Onsekiz Mart University.
