Batı Anadolu Group made an investment of 97 million in total in environmental and energy efficiency projects at Batıçim and Batısöke cement plants within 5 years, within the framework of sustainable growth principle. Thanks to the commissioned environmental and energy efficiency projects, 41 thousand tons of carbon emission was prevented in total and the contribution to the environment accounted for the amount of oxygen provided by 65,300 trees.
Emphasized that they assume the responsibility of legating a habitable world as individuals responsible for future generations, Feyyaz Ünal, Member of the Executive Board, Batı Anadolu Group spoke as follows:
“The cement sector has destroyed the perception of being an industry with high environmental impact with its energy efficiency projects and the role it assumed in waste management, and has now become the solution partner of the urban management and the other industries in popularizing sustainable growth. And we, as Batı Anadolu Group are constantly develop our investments in this field. We constantly measure all emissions of our plants with gas analysis device and send the results instantly to the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization via Internet. This way, we have opened our activities for 7/24 audit. We believe that this practice must be adopted by all sectors and companies. ”
Stated that they realized “Facility of Power Generation from Waste Heat” in Batıçim and Batısöke cement plants in order to turn the heat in the production process into power, Ünal added as follows: “We procure 30 percent of our power need from heat transformation. Thanks to our Vertical Raw Material Mill investment of ours, we ensure a 25 percent saving in power used in production.”
