The annual General Assembly of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), one of the world’s most important platforms for sustainable development, was held. During the General Assembly, the new Executive Board members of WBCSD for the upcoming term were determined. As of January 1, 2025, Cenk Alper, CEO of Sabancı Holding, has joined the WBCSD Executive Board. With this appointment, Cenk Alper became the only Turkish executive in the new term’s Executive Board.
Founded in 1995 and currently representing around 240 global companies, WBCSD focuses on supporting companies’ transformation processes in sustainable development through collaborations, while contributing to sustainable growth. Sabancı Holding, which has been a member of WBCSD since October 2020, continues to represent Turkish business on global platforms.
“Proud to Represent Turkish Business Community”
Cenk Alper, CEO of Sabancı Holding, expressed his thoughts on the matter: “The way to achieve sustainability goals is through collaboration. It is crucial to benefit from each other’s experiences, share our successful practices and strategies, and create more impact in these global organizations for a common purpose. When Sabancı Holding became a member of WBCSD in October 2020, we were the only Turkish member at that time. Now, we are proud to represent the Turkish business community on the Executive Board, which is responsible for overseeing the strategy of the Council and ensuring the efficient operation of its activities. This role will also greatly support our Community Promise, ‘We unite Türkiye and the world through pioneering initiatives for a sustainable life.’”
