FORMÜLHANE BY ÇİMSA: THE FIRST R&D CENTER OF THE TURKISH CEMENT SECTOR
Çimsa, a Sabancı Holding affiliate which guides the Turkish cement sector thanks to its innovative vision and exemplary practices, established an R&D center called Formülhane (Formula Room) in Mersin in 2000 and it recently had the R&D center registered by the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, once again putting its mark under a first-of-its-kind project in its sector.
Çimsa was established 45 years ago and since then it has been investing in innovation with an aim to develop different products and practices with high added value so as to meet specific needs. To this end, the company continues its efforts aimed at guiding the trends and dynamics of the cement and construction sectors without slowing down. Speaking at a press conference held at Çimsa’s R&D center Formula Room, Çimsa General Manager Nevra Özhatay underlined that the importance placed on R&D activities is the number one factor ensuring the company’s strong position in the sector. “All market players must keep up with the technological trends and always be part of innovative solutions in order to ensure a sustainable growth under global conditions. In our R&D center Formula Room established in 2000 in Mersin and registered on February 28, 2017 upon an audit by the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, we maintain our efforts to develop the latest and the most advantageous products by taking into consideration the demands and expectations of the markets in which we operate in.”
Another official speaking at the press conference was Çimsa R&D, Innovation and Business Development Vice General Manager Önder Kırca who emphasized the fact that Çimsa became a world brand for white cement and other exclusive products developed as a result of the efforts carried out in Formula Room. “In addition to being Turkey’s first white cement producer, we have also been expanding our portfolio with exclusive products developed in Formula Room such as calcium aluminate cement, self-cleaning cement, and antibacterial cement and, thus, providing the sector with innovative approaches.” “We provide both our domestic and overseas customers with a non-stop service through our R&D center Formula Room, which is one- of-a-kind in Turkey. In our center we create values that will play a role in the development of the cement sector and we also carry out new product development programs, sales support services, and lab support, all of which boast a high added value and make a difference for the end user. We also get information from our customers through customer surveys and use that very information to develop customer-oriented products and improve our cement production process accordingly.
