TÇMB (Turkish Cement Manufacturers’ Association) has announced that the Turkish Cement sector has planted more than 350 saplings since 2004.
TÇMB during the announcement stated that it closely follows all the developments in practice and legislation, as well as case studies and activities in the world, EU and domestically on rehabilitation, through the European Cement Union (CEMBUREAU) being as a member of it.
As a sector that regards the environment as an indispensable priority, the Turkish cement sector emphasizes the reintroduction of mine sites into the environment and supports this approach by taking new positive steps for a sustainable ecosystem every day with its technical practices.
These numbers has also given according to rehabilitation: Our sector has completed its activities in 2.23% of the areas where has been operating mining operations since 2004 and has rehabilitated the mine areas according to the mentioned rehabilitation practices. According to this, more than 350 saplings were planted within the scope of rehabilitation operations which carried out in a total of 300 ha area. Approximately 67% of these areas were rehabilitated as natural forests or park areas and natural groundwater and ponds were formed in an area of approximately 22 ha.
