Çimsa, which hosted the event for the first time this year in Istanbul, gathered industry professionals at the supply chain event and shared its sustainability strategy with the participants. The event highlighted the importance of a new collaboration culture to achieve future zero targets, and ideas were exchanged on the supply chain of the future.
Hosted by Çimsa, a company of the Sabancı Group, this event was held on December 13th in Istanbul under the title “Supply and Sustain.” The event saw strong participation from industry stakeholders, and sustainability plans for the construction materials sector were discussed. The necessity of collective efforts to reach zero targets was debated. The event, where ideas focusing on innovation, technology, and sustainability to shape the future supply chain were shared, is planned to be continued in the coming years.
Çimsa CEO Umut Zenar stated that companies prioritize their net-zero targets as a top agenda item and said, “Regardless of the sectors we operate in, if we want to create lasting and real impact in sustainability, the only way to do that is through collaboration. Today, no institution, whether from the public, private, or academic sector, has enough power to make a significant change on its own. The key is to set a shared vision with all our stakeholders and work to extend our impact wherever we can. This approach is at the center of our sustainability roadmap at Çimsa. We are not only transforming ourselves, our operations, and our corporate culture along the sustainability axis, but we are also working to ensure that this understanding is present in every link of our supply chain. This event is an important reflection of this vision. We believe that through such events in the future, we will create strong awareness.”
Umut Zenar also emphasized that Çimsa’s global vision is not limited to production facilities or customer diversification. He added, “Especially with our digital-focused efforts, we are creating digital networks between our facilities, customers, and distributors. This provides us with significant advantages in terms of efficiency, while also advancing the supply chain issues faced by the industry in international trade. Today, with 2,200 suppliers in 29 countries, we ensure the most efficient shipment of our products in 80 different product categories, integrating our global corporate vision into our supply chain. While considering environmental impacts, we are also designing our supply chain management with sustainability in mind, taking into account social and governance factors under the ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) framework. We are very pleased that our suppliers are embracing this approach.”
