Turkish Ready Mixed Concrete Association (THBB) released the awaited “Ready Mixed Concrete Index” September 2022 Report which details the current status of and expected developments in construction sector and related production and service sectors. While the Activity Index demonstrated an unstable movement by falling below the threshold value again in September following the upward movement in August, the Combined Concrete Index maintained the same level as last month with the impact of the decrease in activity despite the increase in expectations.
Turkish Ready Mixed Concrete Association (THBB) points out the current status of and expected developments in construction sector and related production and service sectors in Turkey with Ready Mixed Concrete Index it releases every month. Related to ready-mixed concrete which is one of the most basic inputs of the construction sector and is used in construction within a short period of time after its production without being stocked, the index is one of the most important indicators revealing the growth rate of the construction sector.
THBB released the September 2022 Report of the Ready Mixed Concrete Index, which is eagerly awaited every month. According to the report the Activity Index is demonstrating an unstable movement by falling below the threshold value again in September after an upward movement in August. As in the previous month, expectations and confidence indices remained below the threshold in September. While the Expectations Index made a rise from its bottom point in August, it failed to exceed the threshold. The Combined Concrete Index remained at the same level as last month due to the impact of the decrease in activity despite the increase in expectations.
Evaluating the results of the report, Yavuz Işık, the Chairman of THBB said “Construction activities are demonstrating an unstable movement by falling below the threshold value again in September after an upward movement in August.”
Evaluating the rates of change in index values on year on year basis, Yavuz Işık said, “All 4 indices seem to be in a decline on a year on year basis. Particularly the decline in the activity index is higher. The fact that expectations and confidence indices were low on year on year basis means that revival is not expected in the construction sector both currently and in the upcoming period. Experiencing the highest contraction among the sectors in the Turkish economy in the second quarter of the year, the construction sector seems to have entered the last quarter with a slowdown. The fact that expectations and confidence indices remain at a low level along with an unstable level of activity points out the fact that the construction sector is still far from its true potential.”
