Representing 27 percent of the Turkish chemical industry, Kocaeli Chamber of Industry organized the Process Safety Symposium and Exhibition to discuss the new regulations expected to change the balance in the chemical sector. The Symposium, which took start on May 14, 2018 at The Green Park Pendik Hotel and Congress Center, and lasted two years, brought together the legislators, auditors, firm owners, industry workers, trainers and documentation organizations.
The SEVESO directives which were realized for the prevention of major industrial accidents and in order to minimize the potential incidents harmful to people and the environment will start to apply in the most current form. The Ministry of Labor and Social Security is about to complete its study on the new regulation draft, which is on reducing the risk of major industrial accidents one in a million. The Regulation on the Prevention and Vitiation of Major Industrial Accidents, including the SEVESO Directives, which are expected to be updated in July 2018, will start a new period particularly for petrochemical in Turkey, plastics, paints, cosmetics, and insulation materials sectors. When this new regulation, which is discussed at the Process Safety Symposium and Exhibition, is updated, many investments will be waiting the companies.
