Despite the stagnation experienced in the global market and increasing risks following along, Turkey is included in the list of The World’s Largest 250 International Contractors with 44 companies. Turkey ranks second following China in the list. The US, on the other hands, ranks third.

The international construction industry magazine ENR (Engineering News Record) announces the list of the The World’s Largest 250 International Contractors, which has been followed with interest by economic environment all over the world, based on the revenue generated by contractors’ activities outside the country in the previous year.

The data in the analysis prepared by ENR indicate the construction sector, which is one of the sectors most affected by the global economic uncertainty, continues to stagnate. A slight increase seen in the international construction market in 2017 has brought up the question “Is the global market direction turning up again? ” However, according to ENR data, the size of the international construction market increased by only 1% from USD 482.4 billion to USD 487.3 billion in 2018. However, the size of the global market recorded 500-54 billion USD during 2012-2014 period.

Turkey Has Managed To Maintain Its Position Despite Difficulties

Turkey has maintained its performance and takes the second place again in the rankings in 2018 when the international contracting market remained stagnant. The number of Turkish companies in the ENR list was 44 in 2018. The total market share of Turkish companies in the list is 4.6% for the same year.

The share of Turkish contractors in regional revenues has increased from 9.7% to 10.4% in the Middle East, which is their main markets, and has decreased from 4% to 2.1% in Asia. While the market share of our companies in Africa has not changed much and recorded 5.6% and it has reached 7% with a limited increase in Europe.
