The Cement, Glass, Ceramic, and Clay Products Exporters’ Association (ÇCSİB) has announced the “Champions of Export” for its member companies that completed 2024 with an export volume of approximately $4.5 billion.
ÇCSİB, which includes exporters from the ceramic, cement, and glass sectors and is the sole and coordinating export association with over 2,000 members, revealed the export champions for 2024. The 7th Champions of Export Awards Ceremony, held at the Türkiye Exporters Assembly (TİM) Foreign Trade Complex, was attended by Deputy Minister of Trade Volkan Ağar, TİM President Mustafa Gültepe, Ankara Chamber of Industry (ASO) President Seyit Ardıç, ÇCSİB Chairman of the Board Erdem Çenesiz, Vice Chairmen of the Board Tansu Kumru and Abdulhamit Akçay, along with the association’s member companies.
Medcem Global, Çimsa, Nuh Çimento, Akçansa, and Batı Anadolu Group were awarded for being the top exporters in the cement sector at the 7th Champions of Export Awards Ceremony.
Speaking at the ceremony, ÇCSİB Chairman of the Board Erdem Çenesiz expressed that despite the export losses experienced in the last two years, they expect 2025 to be the recovery year for the sector. He emphasized that global competition has increased, particularly due to China’s aggressive pricing policies, which have led to losses in key markets. However, Çenesiz highlighted that Turkish companies are differentiating themselves during this period with their design, quality, and logistics strengths. He said, “Competition is not limited to price alone. Therefore, we must effectively communicate our product quality, design capabilities, and logistics strengths to buyers. Moreover, we should not limit ourselves to markets like the EU and the USA, but also increase our market share in regions such as Latin America and Africa.”
Turkish Cement Earns Trust in the Global Market
ÇCSİB Vice Chairman of the Board Abdulhamit Akçay emphasized that despite the challenges and high cost disadvantages experienced in 2024, the Turkish cement sector continued to provide uninterrupted service in export markets. “Last year, we achieved 19 million tons of exports worth $1.1 billion to 100 countries, once again demonstrating that the Turkish cement sector is a reliable and strong partner. We accounted for 10% of global cement and clinker exports and 15% of sea-based exports. At the same time, we continued to provide uninterrupted cement supply to the region affected by the earthquake in our country. In our exports, the USA continues to lead. Turkish cement supplies 30% of the USA’s cement imports and 7% of the total cement consumption, positioning us as America’s most important and reliable trade partner. Syria continues to hold significant importance in our exports, coming second after the USA. Additionally, Italy, Bulgaria, and African countries such as Ivory Coast and Ghana are also indispensable markets for us. We cover 27% of the total exports made from Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East alone. In the first four months of this year, we increased our exports by 14% in volume, proving that our success will continue,” he stated.
