A 23% growth in the cement industry
Onur Atakay, Founding Partner of Sintek Group, who is not only known for facilities he has established and commissioned on a turnkey basis for many sectors, especially the cement, energy, iron-steel, and logistics sector, but also for his services in the fields of project development, engineering, and consultancy, stated that the pandemic, which started in 2020, negatively affected the heavy industry and cement sector as well as every other sector. Looking at the year-end reports, Onur Atakay stated that there was a 23% growth in the sector, and he said that there was an increase of 11.7% in cement production in the 9-month period of 2021 compared to 2020. Onur Atakay announced that in the reports prepared for 2022, they await a growth between 4.0%-4.4%.
US investments will increase
Onur Atakay, who also provided information about the global pandemic that deeply affected and transformed business and private life all over the world, said: “The pandemic affected the cement sector as well as all other sectors. However, the cement industry recovered rapidly. The start of vaccinations and opening the borders of countries in 2021, has accelerated the conclusion of investment talks, and created new market opportunities. When we look at investments after the pandemic, we have seen that Turkish contractors, who normally focus on domestic market works, started evaluating foreign opportunities. With investment studies intensifying in Russia, the Middle East and Africa, we foresee that especially US investments will increase in 2022.”
Turkish engineering will play an active role in the international arena
Onur Atakay, who also provided information about Sintek Group’s future targets said: “In 2022, we will continue to add new projects to our domestic and international projects with the experience and success we have gained. We will focus on European-based operations.
With these operations, Turkish engineering will play an active role in the international arena. Our main target both in 2022 and in the following years is to undersign projects with high added value both locally and abroad.”
