Continuing its contributions to Turkish sports, Çimsa has become the title sponsor of Mersin Çukurova Basketball Sports Club, one of the prominent teams in women’s basketball.
Operating under Sabancı Holding, Çimsa continues to promote economic and social development in the regions where it operates. Bringing its Mersin factory to the global construction materials sector in terms of technology and operations, Çimsa has signed a title sponsorship agreement with Mersin Çukurova Basketball Sports Club (Mersin ÇBK), a key representative of women’s basketball in Mersin.
Commenting on the subject, Çimsa CEO Umut Zenar emphasized that supporting women in all areas of life is one of the company’s top priorities. Zenar stated, “Cement is a material that binds different substances and strengthens large structures. It is a unifier, a reinforcer… We perceive sports in a similar manner. We believe that sports are a vital value that unites our country and our people. As long as women continue to be on the field, the values they represent will continue to spread throughout our country. We will stand by our women in this journey. Once again, we will use the unifying power of sports for the development and social progress of these lands.”
Highlighting their pride in Çimsa’s transformation into a global brand, Umut Zenar added, “At the same time, we never forget our responsibilities toward Türkiye and Mersin. Today, our Mersin factory is the only facility in the world capable of producing gray cement, white cement, and calcium aluminate cement (CAC). Therefore, our industry recognizes the significance of Mersin worldwide. In recent years, our female athletes have also achieved remarkable success in this field. They have represented Mersin with great pride and accomplishment in Europe’s leading women’s basketball competitions. We hope these achievements will continue, and we will be alongside our female athletes in this journey.”
Furthermore, Umut Zenar pointed out that this sponsorship not only supports Çimsa Mersin ÇBK but also extends to the club’s pilot team, ÇBK Mersin Gelişim. “This is an indication of how we implement our support for female athletes with a long-term strategy. Today, ÇBK Mersin Gelişim consists of 16 young female athletes from various cities such as Adana, Bursa, and Hatay. Additionally, we continue our support in other cities where we operate. In Afyon, through Çimento Spor Basketball Amateur Sports Club, which we have supported for many years, we strive to train young athletes and introduce them to the universal values of sports from an early age,” he said.
