OYAK Cement has been honored with three awards in different categories at the “Awards for Contributors to Occupational Safety and Health 2025”, organized by the Cement Industry Employers’ Association (ÇEİS).

With a strong commitment to making occupational health and safety a permanent value and a top priority in the workplace, OYAK Cement has implemented numerous initiatives. Three of these projects were recognized at the Awards for Contributors to Occupational Safety and Health 2025. Competing among 91 projects carried out by 14 different companies in 2023 and 2024, OYAK Cement emerged as the winner in the categories of “Adding Value to Safety”, “Adding Value to Health”, and “Leading in OHS”.

Based on the Broken Window Theory, which argues that ignoring minor unsafe conditions can lead to greater safety risks and workplace accidents, the project “Effective Workplace Oversight – Broken Window Inspections” received the “Adding Value to Safety” award. Covering seven cement plants, two grinding facilities, one packaging plant, 57 ready-mix concrete plants, and five aggregate facilities under OYAK Cement, the project applies a risk-based internal audit approach across all sites and processes at a corporate-wide level.

Launched in 2024 at Ünye Cement, the “CEMHEALTH360 | Occupational Health Surveillance and Preventive Medicine from the Perspective of Industrial Hygiene” project was granted the “Adding Value to Health” award. The project aims to minimize occupational health risks for employees while strengthening the preventive medicine framework.

Adana Plant Director Mustafa Turan was recognized with the “Leading in OHS” award. Turan spearheaded the OHS FOCUS Group, which concentrated on preventing hand injuries in mobile equipment operations and reducing accidents during industrial cleaning activities. Under his leadership, the initiative delivered systemic transformation through root cause analyses of workplace accidents, revised work instructions, practical training modules, and handy pocket guides, all implemented in coordination with teams across the Group.

“This recognition further motivates us”
Commenting on the achievement, OYAK Cement CEO Murat Sela stated:
“Occupational health and safety has always been one of our top priorities at OYAK Cement. Every step we take in this field is first and foremost about ensuring the health and safety of our employees. While managing our production processes with a zero-accident target, we also leverage innovation and digitalization. Receiving three awards across different categories in the ÇEİS OHS Value Awards confirms that the standards we set, and our innovative approaches are acknowledged by independent organizations. Motivated by this recognition, we will continue to invest in OHS and foster safe and healthy workplaces through innovation-driven projects.”
