CEO of TÇMB, who was the moderator of the Concrete Road and Concrete Barriers session of the CivilCon conference which was with by the students of İstanbul Technical University attention, made a presentation regarding “Life Cycle Cost of Concrete Roads”. While Prof. Dr. Özgür Yaman, METU Civil Engineering Faculty Member provided detailed information regarding to the answer of the question “Why Concrete Road?”; Barış Akbelen, Technical Assistant of TÇMB explained Permeable Concrete Applications and Ali Osman Atahan, İTÜ Civil Engineering Faculty Member explained the applications regarding concrete barriers. Gülce Yazıcı, communication expert of TÇMB introduced “Beton Plus, Concrete and More” Mobile Application. Presentations made in representation of TÇMB were made to an audience of more than 400 students.
Economic and Durable Concrete Roads Compacted with Roller Including information regarding the strengths of Roller Compacted Concrete Road applications, in the seminar, it was emphasized that Roller Compacted Concrete Roads are by 40% more economical for the same traffic, environment-climate and ground conditions; also, came to the forefront with the advantage of allowing introduction to service quickly, not requiring maintenance-repair and being durable.
Permeable concrete will decrease water consumption and
prevent floods In the presentation made in the conference, it was also stated that Permeable concrete technology which is becoming widespread in Europe is an essentia aspect of special part areas, sidewaks and walkways. It was expressed that permeable concrete allows flow of
rainwater towards underground sources without contaminating it thanks to its permeable surface unlike conventional paved surfaces, and both overflow incidents can be avoided and underground waters can be fed through use of this concrete type.
