Speaking at the opening of the General Assembly, Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Şimsek emphasized that the construction sector is of great importance in the Turkish economy. Şimşek said, “I especially want to congratulate the members of the Turkish Contractors Association for their efforts abroad, because our time now is the time of export mobilization.”
Şimsek said, starting with a global crisis in 2008 they started going through a difficult period due to events such as terrorism, coup attempts and elections in Turkey and its surrounding areas; “If any economy is confronted with half of these shocks, they would be in a big crisis and Turkey, with the right policies and practices, demonstrated a great resistance and performance, “he concluded.
Mehmet Şimşek: “You are doing great things in the most difficult countries”
“Your sector is affected a little by what has happened in the recent period we would have been very surprised if it didn’t. We have taken many steps for it to remain limited, we will continue to do so in the future. But there is no need to be pessimistic at all. You are doing tremendous things under the toughest conditions. You are doing great things in the most difficult countries.
If you consider that the doors of Europe, where law works so well are opening to us, with the soon to be updated Customs Union this, in turn will open wide and new areas.
In the next couple of years, we are going towards a very different atmosphere, perhaps a place where you have more than enough additional business opportunities. I wish your 32nd Ordinary General Assembly will be good. I wish you success. “
