As part of its social responsibility project for a sustainable future, VEGA Türkiye has implemented “Rainwater Harvesting, Storage and Efficient Irrigation Systems.” Türkiye is facing an increasingly severe drought threat in recent years, with climate change exacerbating the issue. In this context, protecting and efficiently using water resources is of great importance. The system stands out as a significant solution to address this need.
The goal of the project is to reduce water expenses in schools and contribute to a sustainable future. Thanks to the system implemented by VEGA, the water needs of schools for garden irrigation, cleaning and other uses can be met. This system reduces the consumption of drinking water, lowers water bills, and helps preserve natural resources.
Rainwater System Implemented at Karaağaç Primary School
The rainwater harvesting system established at Karaağaç Primary School in Tekirdağ Kapaklı region was successfully completed with the help of the region’s best plumbing experts. The rainwater collected from the school roofs is stored in a special water tank, preventing it from being wasted. To ensure efficient use of the water, a plump room was built, and a hydrofor pump was installed. Automatic control devices were placed for the irrigation system, and the VEGAPLUS 31 radar sensor was activated to monitor the water level.
The VEGAPLUS 31 radar sensor allows the school administration to track water levels in real-time. Through radar technology, flood risks or anomalies in water level can be detected through an early warning system, allowing adverse situations to be identified and necessary precautions to be taken in time.
Opening of the project was held with a special ceremony. The event, which was attended by the Director of National Education of Çerkezköy District, included students planting saplings in the school garden. The VEGA Turkey Team and Country Manager Bahadır Avcı also participated in the opening ceremony. Additionally, the Governor of Kapaklı, Mustafa Gürdal, the Mayor of Kapaklı, Mustafa Çetin, the District Police Chief of Kapaklı, Kubilay Sinan Keşki, District Gendarmerie Commander Gendarmerie Senior Sergeant Ayhan Aytaç and District Director of National Education of Kapaklı, Halil Vardı, also attended the opening ceremony and expressed their support for the project.
Saving and Technology Together in Water Use
VEGA Türkiye and its headquarters VEGA Germany place great importance of environmentally friendly practices. In their production facilities in Germany, devices are manufactured with energy-efficient process and sustainable production approach. The use of recyclable materials and the preference for renewable energy sources minimize environmental damage and reduce the carbon footprint.
With this project, water conservation will be achieved in schools, and environmentally friendly practices will contribute to sustainable future.
