The Fourth Industrial Revolution or in other words, Industry 4.0 can be summarized as rendering production processes more efficient by strengthening them in computerization, equipping these processes with advanced technology and digitalization of industry. In the Industry 4.0 phase, installing the production lines that can meet the rapidly changing and customizing human needs in the fastest and most efficient way has become the most important item in the industry’s agenda. Within this process, for Turkey’s reinforcing its production power, its transition to digital plants dominated by advanced robot technologies becomes important.
As Mitsubishi Electric, we respond to Industry 4.0, with our digital plant concept, namely e-F@ ctory. With our e-F@ctory concept, we provide the opportunity of building the plants in the manner to meet all needs of Industry 4.0. More importantly, by creating a virtual plant before the plant investment, we offer the opportunity of testing the plant to be built and the production, assessing efficiency and shaping the investment in view of the outputs created.
We reckon that the role of robots in production will rapidly increase in the new industrial phase and develop new generation products and solutions, based on this future vision. With our robots that play a significant part in our e-F@ctory concept, we ensure that large production series become practical and that flexibility in production increases. Our robots that are able to perform almost all works on the production line with their precision close to human hand or arm provide the plants with high added value, with respect to work safety and worker health, particularly in difficult and hazardous fields.
With our e-F@ctory concept, we aim to contribute to rapidly growing Turkish industry to compete with the leading producers in global markets and to its sustainable growth. In view of this purpose, we inform our industrialists and endeavor to spread the concept of digital plant in Turkey. We explain the total benefit to be obtained as a result of the use of our advanced robot technology providing flexible production, low costs and high human comfort.
As Mitsubishi Electric, we have been using the concept of e-F@ctory in our plants since 2003, far before Industry 4.0’s inclusion in the agenda and rapidly improving our products based on our experiences. In our Nagoya plant that we built as a digital plant, a significant increase was achieved in the production capacity, after using the concept e-F@ctory. Another example is our pilot program implemented in Intel’s Malaysia production base. With this program, where we combined Mitsubishi Electric’s e-F@ctory concept with Intel’s expertise in creating solutions with regard to Internet of Things, production has started to be tracked online, through the cloud. Providing Intel plant with high efficiency, this application also provided opportunity of predictive maintenance activities, low breakdown rates and advantage of low costs. Thanks to these results, Intel saved almost 9 million dollars, and with this energy efficiency, a contribution was made to the target of sustainable society.
