Cemex, a global leader in the building materials industry, has implemented a significant leadership change. Jaime Muguiro, who was appointed by the company’s Board of Directors on February 10, has officially assumed the role of CEO of Cemex. This appointment is part of a planned leadership transition following the retirement of former CEO Fernando A. González, marking the end of a successful career at Cemex.
In his first statement as the new CEO, Jaime Muguiro expressed his commitment to the company and his vision for the future: “I am honored to take on this role and deeply grateful to our Chairman Rogelio Zambrano and the Board of Directors for their trust, and to Fernando González for his outstanding leadership.”
Muguiro continued: “As Cemex’s new CEO, I am committed to providing the highest possible returns to our shareholders, which we will achieve by being the best partner to our customers and having a laser-like focus on operational efficiency. This is a pivotal moment in our company’s history. Having achieved our deleveraging objectives and substantially consolidated our operations, we are now well-positioned to transition from financial stabilization to growth, looking primarily at opportunities in the United States, while enhancing shareholder returns and driving sustainable value creation for all stakeholders including our neighboring communities.”
Jaime Muguiro has been with Cemex since 1996 and has held several senior leadership positions across various regions. He has played key roles in Strategic Planning, Business Development, Ready-Mix Concrete, Aggregates, and Human Resources. He has managed several regional operations, including those in the Mediterranean, South and Central America, and the Caribbean. Prior to his appointment as CEO, Muguiro served as President of Cemex USA, overseeing the company’s operations in the United States.
