Umut Zenar: “Akçansa has reached its highest monthly export figure in the history of Turkey’s cement industry in June. “
Akçansa General Manager Umut Zenar said the following in his assessment of financial results: “As Akçansa, thanks to our strength in exports and our effective port management, we exported to 4 continents from 3 factories and 4 ports during the pandemic period and in June, we have achieved a significant success, reaching the highest monthly export figures of Turkey’s cement industry. The “Responsible Use of International Resources Certificate” received by our Çanakkale Factory, which has an important share in our exports, increased the perception of our company’s customers abroad positively. In addition, as a result of our strict fiscal discipline policy, we reduced our general management expenses by 11 percent and our sales and marketing expenses by 43 percent during the pandemic period, while increasing our EBITDA margin to 19.8 percent. We would like to thank all our teammates who worked with great devotion and made the production continue uninterruptedly in such a period that the world is going through a difficult test.
Genel Manager Zenar: “At the end of 2020, we will continue to create added value for our industry and our country with the goal of “4 million tons of export from 4 ports to 4 continents”.
Efficiency and sustainability are at the forefront for a low carbon future
Emphasizing that the fight against climate change is among the sustainability priorities of Akçansa, Zenar continued as follows: “We are following a solution-oriented strategy on climate change. In this direction, we implement both environmentally and economically effective solutions such as alternative fuel and raw material use, as well as impact-reducing practices such as energy efficiency and emission reduction. We have managed to increase our use of alternative fuels in our plants to 20%, which is well above the industry average of 7%, and we will continue our investments in this scope in the upcoming period.”
Akçansa received the first Environmental Product Declaration in ready-mixed concrete
Stating that Akçansa offers products with low CO2 emission and resistant to environmental effects as a result of long-term R&D studies, Umut Zenar said that they are the first company in Turkey to complete the environmental product declaration process conducted by Global Cement and Concrete Association with a transparent and responsible management approach for ready mixed concrete products.
