With more than 40 years of experience, Altınyaldız Space Frame Systems CO., has a new organization in the second half of 2018. Working in a lot of positions for 21 years starting from engineering position, Sonay Ergül was assigned to the position of General Manager. Continuing its leadership in the sector with its new structuring Altınyaldız accelerated its domestic projects as much as the international ones.
Sonay Ergül explained the firm, the change and the sector as follows: Our company Altınyaldız is the firm which is experienced in engineering, design, manufacturing and assembly of prefabricated steel cage Aerospace Systems with architectural and industrial purpose, for large span, column-free and large-volume spaces; which started the studies, introduction and various applications of prefabricated steel cage Aerospace Systems in Turkey and leading the teaching Space Systems in universities and which received the first “Space System” patent right in for the first time in Turkey with its patent it received in the field of “Space Systems Prefabricated Building Elements”.
The most preferred and used areas of our system are Architectural- Airports, Shopping Centers, Cultural Centers, Conference Halls, Gymnasiums, Stables, Motorway Stations, Bridge and Pedestrian Crossings, Terminal Buildings.
Industrial – Plants, Warehouses, Stock Houses, Treatment Plants, Cement Plants, Chemical Raw Material Preparation Facilities.
It is a stubborn fact that the founder of Altınyaldız Space Frame Systems, İbrahim Atilla Altınyaldız who was born in 1945 in İzmir made a great contribution in this matter. Altınyaldız completed his primary, secondary and high school education in İzmir, entered Istanbul Technical University Department of Higher Engineering and after 3 years of graduation he founded Altınyaldız Ltd. Co. in 1970. In the following years, arriving Turkey with his research on Space Systems and experience, Ibrahim Atilla Altınyaldız received a patent of Space Systems from the Ministry of Industry and Technology in 1981, and has been authorized as first and only company to use Space Systems in Turkey. Continued to work actively until September 2017 when he passed away, he had been an example to all of us.
Altınyaldız CO. applied the first Space Beam System in Turkey. This practice, which is the milestone, is an indoor swimming pool of the Istanbul Swimming Specialization Club. With the welded pipe system, 30m spaced Space Beams are designed.
In the following years, it performed several well-known projects such as TekelTokat Cigarette Factory, Turkish Metal Union in Ankara, Charter Terminal at Ataturk Airport, İnterteks International Fairground in İzmit, Ankara Esenboğa Airport, Antalya Airport International Terminal 2, ITU Indoor Olympic Swimming Pool, Çanakkale Akçansa-Raw Materials Stokehole, many factories of Şişecam in Turkey and Tuyap Fair and Exhibition Area.
The company, which thinks that it is important to open abroad when all these applications are performed, has successfully completed the design and production of 3 Olympic ice hockey salons and Olympic swimming pool in Khanty Mansisk city in northern Russia in 2007. After this application, it has become one of the companies that are also preferred in overseas applications, for example;
The company completed these projects on time and without errors; TAVTbilisi International Airport, the manufacturing and assembly of which has been completed in Tbilisi, 4 stock-holes in Abu Dhabi, Egypt-Cairo Airport, Macedonia Airport and Iraq Najaf Airport.
Sonay Ergül stated that people do not know the system very much, even though the space system is much more advantageous than the steel systems, which are generally called so. Regarding the advantages of the system, she said:
The Space System has numerous advantages, but some of the most important are:
– Different geometric design and easy manufacturing,
– Lower infrastructure costs,
– Efficient cost advantage,
– Lightweight system,
– Transportability,
– The advantage of accurate manufacturing, erection and demounting of system,
– Meeting wide openings in both directions,
– Short period of erection time,
– Thanks to the holes left in the system, it allows easy attachment of systems such as additional coating and installation in the sub-construction,
– Transportation and assembly of independent elements is easy, and a Space System manufacturing can even be installed on an operative plant with regular workers under supervision,
– If the elements of the system can be handled manually in a worksite where a crane cannot enter, the installation to be performed with a crane can be performed with a small installation scaffold,
– Space Frames can easily be integrated to any kind of carrier infrastructure such as steel construction and reinforced concrete,
– It can be cladded with galvanized steel, aluminum, skylights, sandwich panels, fabric structures, acrylic, polycarbonate or glass glazing to present a very modern and aesthetic view from both indoors and outdoors,
– With special holes to be left in the subheading spheres, it also allows for static calculations such as suspended ceiling, ventilation and lighting installations.
Stating that the annual production capacity is 500,000m2 in the factory equipped with the latest technology installed on an area of 10,000m2 in Şekerpınar, Ergül also added that they are in a leading place in Turkey with parking machines in the factory. Apart from that, she listed their most important differences as following:
