Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report related with the site planned to be established for production of boron doped cement in Emet district of Kütahya was accepted by the Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning. In the written statement made by Kütahya Environment and Urban Planning Department ;it was reminded that Borçim Çimento Sanayi ve Ticaret AŞ plans to establish “Borçim Cement Factory” in Ovacık location of the district. In the explanation, it was announced that the EIA report prepared related with the project and submitted to the Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning was examined by the commission established by virtue of the article 8 of the Regulation on Environmental Impact Assessment and it was stated that “ EIA report was examined and evaluated under provisions of article 12 of the regulation by considering public opinions and suggestions and finally accepted. By virtue of article 14 of the regulation; final EIA report was submitted to our Ministry and a decision that “environmental impact assessment is positive” was rendered for ‘Borçim Cement Factory’ project.’’ Chairman of Board of Directors of Borçim Çimento Sanayi ve Ticaret AŞ. Mehmet Ali Yıldırım reminded that Turkey has 70 percent of boron reserves of the world and Emet has about 70 percent of Turkey. It was stated that the works performed for production of boron doped cement developed by Boron Research Institute (BOREN) are about to be completed.
