TÜRKÇİMENTO announced daily data as regards cement industry. Accordingly, in the January-February period of 2021, cement industry increased by 33.15 to 9.7 million tons compared to the same period of the previous year, and domestic sales increased by 36% to 6.9 million tons.
Faced with many challenging factors such as the increases in exchange rates and thus increasing energy and freight costs, and cement prices that increased below inflation, the sector increased its domestic sales in all regions on a regional basis.
Representing 94% of the sector, the cement production of TÜRKÇİMENTO members in the 2-month period in 2021 increased by 33.1% to 9.7 million tons, while their domestic sales increased by 36% to 6.9 million tons.
Exports increased by 12.3% in the first 4 months
In the January-April period of 2021, the total exports of the cement industry increased by 12.3% from 351 million dollars to 394 million dollars. Compared to the same period of the previous year, the total amount of exports for 4 months decreased by 1.7% to 10 million tons. 5.9 million tons of the said export consisted of cement and 4.1 million tons of clinker. According to TUIK data, Sierra Leone was the leading importer of Turkish cement in the January-February period of 2021, followed by Syria and the USA.
