As a subsidiary of Sanko Holding, Çimko has officially joined the United Nations Global Compact (UN Global Compact), certifying its sustainability vision at an international level. In doing so, the company has once again demonstrated its commitment to building a fairer, more transparent, and more sustainable future.
By committing to the UN Global Compact’s 10 universal principles in the areas of human rights, labor standards, environment, and anti-corruption, Çimko will regularly share its performance with the public. The company will submit its first “Communication on Progress” (CoP) report by July 2026.
Clear Targets on the Road to Transformation
Stating that they are undergoing a multifaceted transformation process in the field of sustainability, Çimko CEO Dr. Önder Kırca said:
“In 2023, with a total investment of TRY 80 million, we implemented practices that reduce environmental impact, such as alternative fuel use, renewable energy projects, waste heat recovery, and water reuse. To reduce our carbon footprint, we aim to decrease the clinker ratio used in cement production to 80% by 2026 and to 70% by 2034. Our participation in the UN Global Compact is also a reflection of our determination to place sustainability at the heart of our corporate culture. We have taken this step not only to reduce our environmental impacts but also to create more value for all our stakeholders through an ethical, inclusive, and people-oriented business model.”
Corporate Approach Aligned with UN Global Compact Principles
Çimko considers the UN Global Compact’s principles on human rights, labor standards, environment, and anti-corruption as one of the core elements of its corporate strategy. The company offers an inclusive work environment that respects employee rights and diversity and contributes to the decarbonization process with environmentally friendly production models. At the same time, it places occupational health and safety at the center of all its operations and operates with a transparent management approach based on ethical principles. With its participation in the UN Global Compact, Çimko aims to be a pioneering company not only in the cement sector but also in contributing to Türkiye’s sustainable development goals. Assuming responsibility across a wide spectrum—from human rights to the environment, from governance to social participation—the company will continue to be an active part of transformation at both local and global levels with practices that add value to the future.
