Sabancı Holding subsidiary Çimsa’s Afyon Plant was among the “Factories with the Best Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Performance of 2020” organized by the Cement Industry Employers’ Association (ÇEİS).
Çimsa Afyon Factory, the most technologically advanced cement factory in Turkey, was selected as the pilot region of the Çimsa Cares Program, which was launched in January 2020 with the goal of “a safe, accident-free organization which cares for one another”. Thanks to the systematic studies carried out at the Afyon Factory, which has been working within the scope of Çimsa Cares since the beginning of last year, the accident frequency and accident severity rate has been reduced to 0. Accordingly, there has been no “lost day work accident” at the facility since 04.04.2019.
10 Golden Rules
Within the framework of Çimsa Cares program, whose aim is to protect every stakeholder that Çimsa touches, it is aimed to increase risk awareness and minimize risk tolerance by putting people in the focus thanks to the “10 Golden Rules” determined within the scope of occupational health and safety. In the program, which aims to increase risk awareness by training each Çimsa employee on these Golden Rules, the trainings are given to everyone at the beginning and are updated periodically in line with the needs. At the Çimsa Afyon Facility, which was chosen as the pilot region for Çimsa Cares, an analysis study was conducted with the participation of all employees before the program was implemented, and the improvement aspects were also examined. Thus, the program was shaped in line with this analysis in order to achieve “better”.
