Exports to China are increasing steadily in the eight largest areas which are the locomotive sectors of Turkey. Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, export figures continued to rise in the first half of the year.

According to the information compiled by AA reporter from the data of Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), Turkey’s exports rose 15.8 percent last month and reached 13 billion 469 million dollars. In the first half of the year, while the exports of many sectors to China decreased, Exports of steel, ready-to-wear and apparel, cereals, pulses, oilseeds and products, furniture, paper and forest products, automotive industry, tobacco, fresh vegetables and fruits, iron and non-ferrous metal sectors increased for China.

While China, where Covid-19 emerged, was negatively affected economically globally in this process, exports of these sectors to China performed well in the first half of the year. Turkey’s exports to China in the first half of this year reduced by 7.72 percent compared to the same period last year and decreased from 1 billion 247 million 838 thousand 97 dollars to 1 billion 151 million 539 thousand 49 dollars.

Despite the second wave concerns in the pandemic, good performance in the export of these sectors to the country continued. It was especially noteworthy that half of these 8 sectors were agricultural products. Total agricultural exports of Turkey in the first half of the year increased by 3.1 percent compared to the same period last year and It increased from 10 billion 941 million 603 thousand dollars to 11 billion 282 million 129 thousand dollars.

In the first 6 months of the year, compared to the same period of the previous year, industrial and mining exports declined, while agricultural exports continued to rise despite the pandemic. China was among the countries that contributed to agricultural exports. Exports of ferrous and non-ferrous metals to the country, which is the sector with the highest export volume
in China, reached 30 million 993 thousand 48 dollars in the first half of last year, bIn the same period of this year, it increased by 218.34 percent from 30 million 993 thousand 48 dollars to 98 million 664 thousand 14 dollars.

Following this sector, the export of fresh fruit and vegetable sector to the country increased by 106.65 percent from 414 thousand 24 dollars to 856 thousand 4 dollars, exports of furniture, paper and forest products rose by 72.37 percent, from 20 million 525 thousand 29 dollars to 35 million 378 thousand 95 dollars, exports of the steel industry increased by 68.20 percent from 4 million 454 thousand 74 dollars to 7 million 493 thousand 5 dollars, exports of cereals, pulses, oilseeds and products sector increased by 59.24 percent from 14 million 789 thousand 30 dollars to 23 million 550 thousand 73 dollars, exports of readyto- wear and apparel industry rose 57.87 percent from 36 million 811 thousand 38 dollars to 58 million 114 thousand 20 dollars, Exports of the tobacco industry increased by 17 percent from 407 thousand 51 dollars to 476 thousand 80 dollars, exports of the automotive industry rose 5.56 percent from 22 million 320 thousand 16 dollars to 23 million 561 thousand 57 dollars.
