Doğuş İnşaat from the Doğuş Group’s companies became the first and only contracting company in Turkey, which had taken out a Political Risk Insurance before the events broke out in Libya and collected its all coverage amount after the events. The coverage amount of 5 million USD Dollars was delivered to Mr. Gönül Talu, the Chairman of Doğuş İnşaat Board of Directors by Mr. Okan Utkueri, the General Manager of Eureko Insurance through a ceremony organized.
Doğuş İnşaat that has implemented 170 projects exceeding 12 billion dollars in total since its foundation in 1950 became the first and only contracting company in Turkey, which had taken out a Political Risk Insurance before the chaotic events broke out in Libya and collected its all coverage amount after the events.
The Top Management and Risk Committee of Doğuş İnşaat decided to consider the Political Risk Insurance option in the frame of the long-term risk evaluation studies under the scope of the project it has undertaken in Libya before the chaotic events broke out in Libya that leads the countries where the Arabic Spring that hit many countries is mostly felt beginning from Tunisia and spreading rapidly.
This type of insurance that was scarcely known at that period was searched and evaluated together with the specialists, and then it was activated in Turkey upon the maintenance of policy in cooperation with Eureko Insurance. For the university Project in Sirte, which was discontinued as a result of the uprising events that broke out in the following days, Doğuş İnşaat commenced the process of insurance damage management and completed the relevant works and proceedings. And the entire coverage of this policy was collected on 28 June 2012.
