Turkish Ready-Mixed Concrete Association (THBB) holds “Seminar on Concrete Technologies and Right Concrete Applications” Touching upon the Urban Transformation Action Plan announced by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization,During the seminar, Selcuk Ucar, Director of the Economic Management System of THBB Quality Assurance System (KGS), explains it is planned to ensure the transformation of 1.5 million dwelling units out of 6.7 million dwellings, which are called priority, within 5 years. He also says the use of quality ready-mixed concrete with KGS certificate during transformation works and right concrete applications will save many lives in a possible earthquake.

Demonstrating considerable efforts for producing and using high quality concrete since 1988, Turkey Ready Mixed Concrete Association (THBB), have carried out numerous activities and for this purpose it also holds seminars on “Concrete Technology and Right Concrete Applications”  These seminars are held periodically in various regions of Turkey with contractors, architects, engineers, mainly concrete users and it is aimed to explain the right applications to the authorities of the public administrations related to concrete, the representatives of the building supervision organization and the concrete producers.

Addressing the Urban Renewal Action Plan announced by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization during the seminar, Selcuk Ucar, Quality Assurance Director at THBB suggests, “When we look at the new Turkey Earthquake Hazard Map that came into effect in 2019, we see that more than 70 percent of our population live in areas with high earthquake hazard. In the last 58 years, 58,202 citizens lost their lives due to earthquakes, 122.096 people were injured and approximately 411.465 buildings were destroyed or severely damaged. We left behind the 20th anniversary of the 17 August Marmara Earthquake. Recent events in different districts of Istanbul once again shows us the importance of urban transformation. The Urban Transformation Action Plan was announced by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization of the Republic of Turkey and it was stated that the transformation of the 1.5 million dwellings, which are called emergency and thus priority among other 6.7 million dwellings would be completed within 5 years. ” 

“We closely follow developments related to Chip Concrete application”
Stating that they follow the developments regarding Electronic Concrete Monitoring System (EBIS), which is briefly called “Chip Concrete”, Selcuk Uçar says, “EBIS regulation entered into force at the beginning of 2019. During the implementation phase of the system, we prepared different reports on the problems faced by our sector and suggested solutions and submitted them to the General Directorate of Construction Affairs of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization. The majority of our proposals were approved by the Ministry representatives and necessary studies were initiated.  We follow all the developments closely and continue to conduct our activities.”
