At Batı Anadolu Group, we have acted in accordance with the principles of responsible industrialism and grown to be one of the most important actors in the sector since our foundation 50 years ago. 2016 was a year when we achieved our goals, maintained our investments and employment opportunities both in Izmir and the Aegean Region, and added value to the region with our social responsibility projects.
Talking in numbers, we achieved our +-10%-margin goal in 2016.
Although we think that 2017 will be a difficult year for the economy, we expect to reap the fruits of our recent investments after 2017. We aim to make an investment amounting to 500 million TL by the end of 2017. On the other hand, our investments which were made, and continue to be made, from 2013 – 2017 amount to 1 billion TL.
Of our 1,280 employees 198 work on contract. We also hired 44 people in 2016 and we plan to add 40 more people to our staff in 2017.
We are currently producing clinker and cement at two points; Izmir, Bornova and Aydın, Söke. We sell our products both in the domestic and foreign markets.
In addition to our Batısöke factory, we are also building a clinker production, cement grinding and packaging plant, which will have a capacity to produce 5,000 metric tons a day. The construction of this plant is expected to be completed in 2018. Upon the completion of this line, our annual clinker production capacity will increase to a total of 2,400,000 metric tons and our cement production capacity will rise to 2,750,000 metric tons. Besides, our annual export figures will increase to $40 million.
We have been exporting mostly to Europe since our foundation, however, African and South American continents are also among our target markets.
Batıbeton will produce with 23 ready-mixed concrete plants, which are located in Manisa, Aydın, Balıkesir, Muğla, and Denizli cities and districts and boast a capacity of 4 million m3 in total. Thus, Batıbeton İzmir will significantly contribute to the regional economy and employment.
The pier extending, widening, and storage investment that completed in Batıliman and worth 45 million TL will increase the ship length from 186 m to 290 m and the berthing place from 750 m to 918 m. Furthermore, the annual handling capacity will also increase from 6 million metric tons to 10 million metric tons.
Our group put its mark under many important projects in the fields of education, health, environment, and culture. For the last 20 years, we have also been contributing to the excavation work carried out in the ancient city of Magnesia located in Germencik, Aydın. 2017 will also bear witness to the continuation of our social responsibility project “Have a Good Sunday.” This project, which we have been carrying out within the 50th anniversary of our group, aims to help both adults and children get in the habit of eating right and sufficient amount of food and exercising on a regular basis so that they can enjoy a quality and healthy life.
