We talked to Sales and Commercial Director Mr Marco Ernesto Donghi about the process after the merger of CTP, which has a 50 years past, with CTN and applications by Cimko Cimento…

CTP is a company with a 50-year history… Could you tell us about your services and projects?

CTP is an engineering and manufacturing company, our mission is provide to our clients innovative solutions and customized products in the fields of environmental systems and Heat recovery. CTP know-how ranges from dedusting, gas cleaning, heat exchangers and WHR systems, our strength is comply with new local regulations in terms of emissions with smaller effects in terms of CAPEX , OPEX and maintenance for existing systems. With our Waste Heat Recovery technology we produce electricity by recovering heat from industrial processes onsite reducing the reliance from the grid and carbon footprint emissions. The After Sales department assists all our customers ensuring a reliable and prompt actions during all life of our systems.

Italian company, CTP, has joined forces with Turkish company CTN. Can you tell us about this process? What kind of structuring did you have with this merger?

The merger between the Turkish and Italian culture has combined many important aspects from both cultures: from one side the Turkish flexibility and their capacity to go straight to the point means take fast decisions in a very short time and on the other side we have the high skilled engineering capacity and know-how of Italian team. The result of this merger is being able to provide to the clients a high technological system with european standards , quickly available. Furthermore, thanks to the manufacturing workshop located in Adana –Turkey, we have reduced third parties and increased the product quality standards besides partnership with CTN guarantees a better understanding of the Middle East and Africa areas.

How did your position in the market change after this merger?

In addition to everything we have already mentioned before, a key point is related to our Waste Heat Recovery technology because we have the possibility to produce our boilers , which are one of the most focal part of the system. And we can approach the WHR market directly without being a integrator of third parties except for the necessary partnership with turbine manufacturers and thermal oil loop supplier.

Which of the CTP products are produced in Turkey?

The manufacturing workshop in Turkey is specialized in heavy steel fabrication, technological and mechanical manufacture. In turkey we produce our boilers and plenum of our filters which are the heart of our systems. Furthermore, a qualified team of site supervisor and workers specialized in our products complete our staff for the most demanding customers looking to EPC contracts worldwide.

What is ORC Technology?

It is the Best Available Technology to recover waste heat from industrial processes. This technology guarantees the best performances in terms of heat recovered and power generation. Our WHR systems are developed using the most advanced technology based on Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC). Also, this system requires low maintenance (self-cleaning and protecting fluids, no wing wear) and provides a higher performance than steam, zero water consumption, island mode in power failure.

You state that ORC Technology reduces operating costs … What kind of savings does it provide?

The WHR plant is a fully automatic and reliable system , it means that no operator supervision is required during the normal operation. The system needs a low maintenance thanks to the antioxidant properties of the thermal oil : self cleaning and protecting the internal metal structures and safeguard the blades of the turbine from erosion.

It is applied in Cimko factory for the first time in Turkey. Could you inform us about the project? What advantages does ORC technology provide to Cimko?

Cimko Project has been the turning point in the Turkish market because all the previous systems ever installed in Turkey were based on the Steam technology. Cimko has trusted our ORC Technology because the power generation capacity was higher than the steam technology. In only 13 months we have installed the system starting from the foundations and in the next few weeks the system will be up and running. Considering the recent increases of the electricity bill starting from 2018, the investment in a power generation system it will be even more important to help our customers to keep their position in the market.

Is it applied in another factory in Turkey?

Not in Turkey but the ORC technology has been known in the industry since the 90s. It is a mature technology ready to be implemented and to replace steam applications.

How much investment does ORC technology require?

There is great variability in terms of investment , each plant dries its own products using the heat coming from the industrial process. On average, the ORC system produces from 30 to 15 percent of the energy consumed and it has a pay-back from 2.5 to 3.5 years depending on the type of plant. The system guarantees a quick return of investment and the Best Available Technology applied.

In what other countries has this system been implemented?

The technology was born in the 90s in Germany, then applied in many countries worldwide such as Japan, USA and European countries and mentioned as BAT.

In which markets is CTP Team strong?

Mainly cement, power & steel and all industrial areas like glass.

Could you tell us about your professional background?

I have a deep technical and commercial background about environment plants in Power Generation and filtration for Cement, Power and Iron&Steel industries. Father of three beautiful children, I take to heart the environment and their future. In CTP I am Sales and Commercial director of an international sales team and together we lead the strategic growth in Middle/Far East and Latam markets.
