Turkish Ready-Mixed Concrete Association (THBB) launched its sixth initiation for a green future. THBB organizes 6th Contest of Environmental Awards for inciting its members of concrete producers to operate environmental friendly.

Pursuing for concrete productions conforming to the standards and correct concrete practices in constructions in Turkey for 32 years, THBB contribute substantially to the development of construction, ready-mixed concrete, and relevant sectors with quality, environment, sustainability, and occupational safety practices. THBB organizes traditionalized Contest of Environmental Awards since 1998 for inciting its members of concrete producers to operate environmental friendly.

In the ready-mixed concrete plants applying to the contest, good practices, aesthetic, etc. criteria in the facilities are considered as well as environmental legislations. Candidates are inspected from end to end with respect to environmental friendly production for the contest to which only the THBB member plants may apply. In the THBB Environment Contest, circumstantial environmental control elements are inspected such as preservation of air quality, noise, wastewater control, management of fuel, oil, and chemical substances, solid waste management, and traffic management. In plant inspections, also such issues as dust emission permits, and recycling systems are taken into account.

Due date for applications is September 30th

The deadline for entering the contest is 30 September 2020. Every THBB member company may apply for the contest with maximum 4 plants, even if awarded a prize in previous contests. The inspections will be carried out by “Inspectors’ designated by “Contest Committee” among THBB Members of Environment and OHS Committee between November 1st and December 31st 2020. The winning plants will be decided by the “Contest Committee” composed of the Executive Board of THBB Environment and Occupational Safety Committee, based on the evaluation of the reports on January 1st – 31st 2021.

The first 3 plants will be informed to European Ready-Mixed Concrete Organization (ERMCO)

The first five plants among those participated in the contest that receive the highest score based on the list of questions prepared will be granted to “THBB Environmental Award”, and three plants among the awarded ones receiving the highest scores will be reported to European Ready Mixed Concrete Organization (ERMCO). In the contest organized in 1998, 2001, 2007, 2012, and 2015, the plants receiving International Environmental Representation Awards were given their prizes by ERMCO in Lisbon in 1998, in Berlin in 2001, in Seville in 2007, in Verona in 2012, and in Istanbul in 2015.
