Akçansa, leader of Turkish cement industry, initiated a new work to convene with the new generation representatives of its dealers under “Leaders of Future” meetings to emphasize importance of institutionalization in familycompanies.
The meeting firstly held in Sabancı Center on 17th May 2012 attracted great interest of dealer and their teenagers. In the meeting, where the issue of relation with the dealers- one of the most important partners of Akçansa- and “Institutionalization of Dealers” representing one of the most important legs of such relation, Fikret Sebilcioğlu- Board Member of Corporate Governance Association of Turkey gave a seminar on Institutionalization.
In the meeting, Akçansa General Manager Hakan Gürdal stated that proper establishment of corporate structure represents one of the most important milestones of sustainability and added “Sustainable growth and effective protection against crisis may be achieved through increase of institutionalization level and a good management. On the other hand; establishment of a structure, where duties and responsibilities are determined clearly and internal communication is created transparently, will enable follow-up of company operations more easily”.
Family company must be institutionalized
Gürdal pointed out that family companies generally dissolves during transfer to 3rd generation according to a survey made and said: “Companies established with great efforts and posing great importance for the family becomes under threat of dissolution due to delay in institutionalization and non-arrangement of the relation between the family and company. In this respect, preparation of next generations for the company counts for the most important point. As a matter of fact; fresh and creative ideas, different perspectives of approach and control of technology and social media compared to the former generation helps refreshment of companies. As Akçansa, we care about young talents and think them as leaders of future. In this context; institutionalization of our dealers and participation of the young talents in their family to the business are of vital importance to our sustainable business model with our dealers.”
Akçansa will continue to convene with the leaders of future under different events.
