In the cement sector which is the locomotive of Turkey’s economy, a 31% decline was experienced in the first 11 months of 2019.
The Cement Sector 2019 November data has been announced by the Turkish Association of Cement Producers.
Cement production for November increased by 2.82% compared to the same period of the previous year and reached 5.3 million tons.
In the first quarter of 2018, with a warm winter season above the seasonal norms, sales increased more than expected. With the adverse effect of seasonality in the winter season of 2019 and the shrinkage in the last 5 months of 2018, the contraction in the domestic sales of cement continued. Thus, in the 11 months of 2019, domestic sales decreased by 31%. Regions with the lowest shrinkage in domestic sales on a regional basis were South East Anatolia and East Anatolia regions. In the remainder of the year, shrinkage rates are expected to decrease as the base effect will improve in favour of the sector.
