YURT İÇİ ÇİMENTO SATIŞLARI 7 AYDA %19 ARTARKEN İHRACAT GERİLEDİ

TÜRKÇİMENTO, the umbrella association of the cement industry, announced the production and sales figures of its members for the first 7 months of 2021. In the 7-month period of 2021, the cement production of TÜRKÇİMENTO members, who represent 94% of the industry, increased by 17.5% compared to the previous year and reached 43 million 359 thousand tons, while domestic sales reached 32 million 985 thousand tons with an increase of 19%. As in previous months, domestic sales increased in all regions. Approximately 21.8% of the cement produced in the first 7 months of the year was exported.

In the statement made by TÜRKÇİMENTO, it was stated that after the first half of 2020, when the effect of the pandemic was intensely felt, high rates of increase were achieved in production and domestic sales in the first half of 2021, with the help of the base effect. “In July, with the effect of the Eid holiday, we experienced a monthly decrease in both production and domestic sales. Although the increase in the export value for 9 months is pleasing, there is a decrease in clinker exports. By the end of the year, we expect our export revenue to be approximately 1.2 billion dollars. The volatility in global energy prices and the supply problem, the negativities in the supply chain come to the fore as the most important issue on the agenda of the sector in the coming period and may adversely affect our production dynamics” it was commented.

January-September Exports
According to the provisional data of the Exporters’ Associations, the total exports of the cement industry in the January-September period of 2021 increased by 12.6% on value basis and reached 951 million dollars. The total export amount decreased by 2.5% to 23.5 million tons. 14 million tons of the said export consisted of cement and 9.5 million tons of clinker.
