Despite that, it has made its mark in a number of projects. Can you tell us about your company? In which fields do you operate? 

Adopting high quality and provision of engineering solutions which focus on need always as its principle, our company was founded in 2016, in Adana. It currently operates with the intent of offering engineering solutions to industrial projects and ensuring customer satisfaction by all means with its 6 experienced engineers and 4 team leader technicians. With the confidence that the companies have in us, the support of our business partners which have reliable quality and the experience of our specialist staff which has a background of heavy industry, we provide service in the fields of industrial automation, industrial electricity, energy, energy efficiency audits and technical service, switchboard applications and industrial sale. With our flexible sense of work and the technical staff which has expertise in its field, we function in every phase from project designing to software and commissioning according to the demand of our customers with our solutions that are not brand-dependent. Since our staff has a long standing experience in the fields of cement, sugar, food, treatment and energy, our main focus is on these sectors and we also offer turnkey engineering solutions for any other sector. As DCS Otomasyon&Elektrik, we are among a few companies that play an active role in the entire process starting from project designing of sectoral applications to supply, installation, testing of any electrical, electronic equipment, production of automation software applications and their commissioning. Our goal is to produce engineering solutions for minimizing the costs of the companies we work with and to offer them time and labor savings. Thus, our aim is to assist them in reaching their goals together by having them to use their own sources in an effective manner and to focus on their main fields of activity.

What is industrial automation? What is its importance particularly for cement plants?

We can define industrial automation as creation of an efficient operating environment for the systems by establishing distribution of work between machinery and man in industrial plants. Industrial automation application is needed particularly in making the production faster, standardizing the quality, minimizing the costs and improving the occupational safety. Use of industrial automation applications is essential in order to avoid downtimes, to minimize energy costs which is one of the biggest expense items, to produce products in a rapid, high quality and standardized fashion in the cement industry.

Can you talk about your references?

Some of the projects which we offer as turnkey solutions are automation of cement packaging units, clinker cooling automation project, bag filter transformation project, waste and raw material feeding unit automation, biomass power plant automation, potable water and waste water treatment plant automation, steam boiler automation, hot gas furnace and fluidized bed boiler automation, energy recovery from residual heat application, remote controlled pumping stations, reporting application.

What are your operations in the energy field?

Energy Monitoring SCADA Project; With this project, it was made possible to monitor energy analyzers and breaker relays employed in the plant via SCADA and to control the breakers via SCADA. With the interlocks realized in the program, wrong actions which can be assumed by the operator are avoided. Energy Generation from Residual Heat; With the project we are working on, it is possible to generate electrical power from residual heat discharged from chimney without being utilized in cement manufacturing process. Thus, it is aimed to ensure savings through energy efficiency in cement manufacturing process where the biggest cost item is energy expenses. Our company offers solutions for all electrical and automation needs of the systems to be established. Biomass Power Plant; Wastes collected from plant areas were used in the project which we have implemented and commissioned. Thus the plants functioned both as a recycling plant and were able to generate their own energy. Alternative Fuel Preparation and Conveying Units; In the plants which we designed and commissioned; products such as tire, paper, fabric etc. in addition to coal which is used as fuel in rotary furnaces, are prepared and conveyed to the furnace. Upon completion of the project, coal consumption was decreased and coal costs were minimized. Packaging Automation; Packaging units of cement plants were disregarded in terms of automation for long years. Packaging units of many plants are being operated with a conventional system and without employing any shipping management system. Bottlenecks in the conventional structure were eliminated, troubleshooting periods were minimized, loading periods were minimized through the automation applications we built and basis was established for transition of the plants to shipment management systems, thus, to industry 4.0 through user-friendly automation software applications. By the help of energy-friendly applications, it was ensured that no-load operation of equipment was ceased by creating energy-saving mode options when no load is present. Also, very quick troubleshooting was made possible in the field of fault diagnostics and operating speed of packaging systems were increased by providing solution. Energy Audit Efforts; We also offer service to the sector in the fields of energy efficiency particularly with the experience that our team has gained for long years in the cement sector. Cement sector which is a energy-intensive sector is open to efficiency improving applications in many aspects. Efficient use of electrical energy, keeping compressed air consumption under control, determination and prevention of thermal losses, analysis of equipment efficiencies are among a few of these applications. In the result of the analyses and evaluations we make, solutions addressing the minimization of energy costs are reported along with the period of return on investments to be assumed. Through improvements which are only made in automation software and do not require additional investment, high levels of savings are ensured. For instance, with the software improvement which stops the units when no loading is performed in packaging units, electrical power savings at the levels of 10% were realized.

Can you evaluate 2018? How much did the sector grow, how much did you grow? Is there a recession in the sector?

For the time being, since industrial automation applications is essential in any plant, it has become one of the main items of investments in 2018. We took part in preparation and commissioning of a number of projects both at home and abroad, particularly in the first half of the year. Uncertainty in the movements of foreign exchange in the second half and particularly in the third quarter caused foreign exchange indexed sectors to postpone their investment. Such deferments caused unfavorable impacts for us just like all other sectors.

What were the important items in your agenda this year? Which items did you focus and are you focusing on specifically?

Our goal for 2018 was to realize turnkey projects in different sectors at home and abroad. We had very good efforts particularly with the partners in Europe. We were very proud to offer global solutions to our European partners as a Turkish company.

How will the following year bring to you growth? What is happening in your investment agenda?

We are planning to realize the contracted foreign turnkey projects in particular in 2019. We anticipate that especially packaging automation projects, energy monitoring and reporting projects, projects for power generation from biomass and residual heat will become prominent at home. Briefly, we expect that the cement sector and the other sectors will invest in minimizing the energy costs as a consequence of the increase in energy costs. Our investments in industrial switchboard production in 2018 will be continued.

Where would you like to see the company in the following 5 years? How do you get prepared for that now?

We are aiming to increase the brand recognition of our company at home and abroad, to perform industrial plant applications without compromising quality and occupational safety and to fulfill our social responsibility projects.

Can you tell us about yourself?

I worked in different companies and sectors at home and abroad for nearly 10 years until foundation of DCS Otomasyon & Elektrik company in 2016. I have completed by undergraduate and master’s degree at Gazi University. My hobbies are outdoor sports and traveling.

Our goal is to produce engineering solutions for minimizing the costs of the companies we work with and to offer them time and labor savings.
