OYAK merged Akdeniz Kimya, one of its companies operating in the chemical industry, and the Austrian Chemson, which it acquired in 2013, under the brand name “Akdeniz Chemson”. With this merger, the new company, which reached a sales volume of 500 million dollars in 110 countries in 5 continents, became the world’s largest company in the field of PVC stabilizers.
Turkey’s largest supplementary occupational pension fund OYAK, took an important step echoed in the world in the field of chemistry as well after the important mergers realized between the cement and power companies. Operating under OYAK, Akdeniz Kimya, and Austrian Chemson, one of the world’s leading PVC stabilizer manufacturers, which it acquired in 2013, joined forces under the brand name “Akdeniz Chemson”. Following this, Akdeniz Chemson became the world’s largest company in the field of PVC stabilizers.
Erdem: “We will increase our sector and product group diversity with the merger”
OYAK General Manager Süleyman Savaş Erdem stated that they continue to shape their future horizons with strategic acquisitions and mergers during the pandemic process, which they call “the period of determination”. Erdem said that they aim to transform Akdeniz Chemson into a company that will develop and manufacture new products for different sectors and markets as well as the current product groups.
Standing out with its evaluation of the value and savings opportunities it creates in the sectors in which it operates, OYAK will reach an annual production capacity of 250 thousand tons thanks to the Akdeniz Chemson merger. Aiming to become the sole center of the PVC industry by increasing its cross product sales portfolio for the sectors it serves, Akdeniz Chemson will be selling to 110 countries. The focus markets are Europe, Russia, Turkic Republics, North Africa, Middle East, USA, China, Brazi and Australia, and will operate with six production facilities operating in an integrated structure on the basis of intermediate products. In addition, it will have a more effective management model with effective sales, marketing and technical support services in production locations. Combining more than 40 years of experience, Akdeniz Chemson will continue to produce calcium, zinc and leadbased stabilizer intermediate raw materials in its constantly developed modern production facilities.
