Turkey Cement Manufacturers Association (TÇMB), on 5 June World Environment Day remarked the issues of recycling, alternative fuel production and utilization.
In the statement according to the subject, the following information is provided: In addition to many calorific value wastes, non-recyclable plastic wastes can also be reformed as fuel. These fuels can be used in cement plants by taking environmental precautions. In this context, the municipality solid waste produced 30 million tons per year in Turkey has a potential of 7 million tons of additional fuel production solid waste and it has a possible potential of usage in the cement factories. Thus, it is possible to save the importation of coal or similar solid fuels about 3 million tons of, 1.7 million tons of CO2 savings from fossil fuels annually, and 7% reduction of fossil fuel-related CO2 emissions and thereby reducing the area covered by wastes. In order to produce fuel from municipal solid wastes, it is necessary to establish processing facilities to contain biological drying system for municipality waste sites. The cement sector can contribute to the recycling of waste through the use of alternative fuels. Thus, we believe that we can also provide an efficient way to manage waste plastic in the management of non-recyclable plastics.
