As a result of 4th Yeşil Nokta Environment Awards organized by Turkish Ready Mixed Concrete Association (THBB), the four facilities of Çimsa are considered worthy of ‘Yeşil Nokta Environment Award”. Turkish contractors, who could not collect their money in Libya after dethroning of Qaddafi, were given “good news about progress payment”. A commission will be established for determination of loss and progress payments will be paid in short time. This paper investigates the effectiveness of three mineral admixtures in reducing the expansion of concrete due to alkali-silica reaction. Three types of aggregates, two natural sands and one crushed sand, are used for preparing mortar bars. These aggregates have been petrographically examined according to ASTM C295 standard and have been found out harmful in respect to ASTM C 1260. In this study, admixtures include one class F fly ash, a condensed silica fume, blast furnace slag. Bursa Metropolitan Mayor Recep Altepe stated that they realized 2 thousand 200 expropriation in Bursa within 8 years and they spent 151 million liras for this purpose.
